Niobe

Niobe

[php snippet=1]
Engaged in intercepting German ships along the Atlantic coast for a year before she was damaged in the Halifax Explosion of 1917, the HMCS Niobe was one of only two ships in the Royal Canadian Navy during the outbreak of the First World War.

The distinctive razzle-dazzle camouflage painted on the side of warships was developed to confound the enemy.

The original painting has been sold.
